One of the bright spots of 2023 was a new song called "Rich Men North of Richmond" by American singer Oliver Anthony. In the song he decries the Washington, D.C. crowd and their disregard for Americans. His lyrics include phrases like:

It's a damn shame what the world's gotten to / For people like me and people like you / Wish I could just wake up and it not be true / But it is, oh, it is.

Livin' in the new world / With an old soul / These rich men north of Richmond / Lord knows they all just wanna have total control / Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do / And they don't think you know, but I know that you do / ....

Well, God, if you're 5-foot-3 and you're 300 pounds / Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds / Young men are puttin' themselves six feet in the ground / 'Cause all this damn country does is keep on kickin' them down.

One of Montana's darkest moments of 2024 came early as the rich men north of Yellowstone Park colluded together to advance the establishment in Washington, D.C. over the voices of the people of Montana.

    By now most know:

    • Congressman Matt Rosendale stepped down from the U.S. Senate race one week after filing.
    • Trump endorsed the Washington, D.C. establishment choice of Tim Sheehy over MAGA Matt.
    • That Daines threatened Rosendale with money and negative ads, as Rosendale highlighted on Bannon's Warroom.
    • That Daines used his position as director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee to select candidates. Was Kari Lake also a victim of this same targeting?
    • Congressman Rosendale has since filed to run for his Congressional

It seems that the Republican Central Committees are taking action as a result. Sources have informed The Montana Sentinel that eleven Republican Central Committees have removed their invitations to have Daines attend. Others have rescinded invitations to have a Daines staff person read a letter or share a video message. The Flathead County Central Committee sent the letter below:

Daines passed the letter to his communication director Mike Berg rather than address the letter himself. The letter was not well-received in Flathead County and it has been shared statewide. Please comment with your thoughts.

It would appear that Oliver Anthony is right - "Lord knows they all just wanna have total control."
