On Thursday, June 13, 2024, a federal court in Louisiana enjoined the U.S. Department of Education from implementing its final rules regarding sex discrimination. Set to go into effect on August 1, 2024, the rule would have expanded protections from sex discrimination to include protections based on gender identity and other characteristics not based on biological sex. The injunction applies in Montana, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Idaho, the states that challenged the final rule.

“The Biden administration turned their backs on real women, parental rights, state’s rights, and our nation’s Constitution through the radical destruction of the original Title IX rules,” said Superintendent Elsie Arntzen. “I have always taken a strong stand to protect our Montana parents and children, which is why I supported the challenge to this rule. In Montana, we have two sexes, male and female. This decision is a huge win against the woke infringement on the rights of our Montana girls.”
