On March 5th the Bozeman City Commission agreed to pay off Jeff Mihelich and cease his employment with the City of Bozeman rather then file an ethics complaint to the independent Board of Ethics. Their votes allows him to resign and rake in nearly $203,000 in a reduced severance package.

Mihelich had been on paid leave since February 1, 2024 after a video was leaked showing him insulting Mayor Cunningham and other City Commissioners. He also disparaged Bozeman while bragging about how he had been contacted by the City of Austin, Texas. Mihelich spent time on the call boasting about how much money he could make of Bozeman and then by working in Austin for the minimal time necessary should the City of Austin hire him.

CBS News in Austin, Texas later caught on to the story of Mihelich.

Here is the video of Mihelich.

It is not clear when the City of Bozeman will hire a new City Manager.
