In a recent article in the Yellowstone County News, author Evelyn Pyburn highlighted how Representative Llew Jones of Conrad received $4.365 million from the Down Payment Assistance Loan Program funded by ARPA. The details about the businesses receiving the loans and the issues with how Jones procured them are covered extensively HERE at the Yellowstone County News.

Jones also took advantage of the Emergency Rental Assistance Program funded by ARPA. One of his many residential rental businesses, LCLC LLC, received $54,400. This is one of eight residential rental businesses listed on his Business Disclosure Statement (FORM D-1), which he is required to file when running for political office in Montana. The LLC’s registered agent is his wife, Carole Jones, and the address is the same as the one used for many of their business listings. Llew Jones is listed on the most recent Secretary of State filing for LCLC, LCC as well.

The other residential rental companies listed on his FORM D-1 (attached below) are 6J2, LLC; JW2, LLC; Dealco, LLC; Lack Investing, LLC; Pondera RV Park, LLC; 6J4, LLC; and HFord Inc., but only LCLC LLC received the funding.

Though many companies received emergency assistance, only Jones chaired the appropriations committee during the 2021 legislative session when funding was allocated under ARPA via House Bill 632. According to Sentinel sources, Jones never disclosed his financial interest in the bill’s passage.

Here is the listing of LCLC, LLC on Jones’ FORM D-1.

Here is the Secretary of State filing information. Note the name and address on the bottom right.

Below is the amount received according to the State of Montana ARPA website, where all companies receiving assistance are listed.

Here are the 2021 House Appropriations Committee members when Jones was chair.
