The Montana Primary Election may be over, but it will likely be analyzed for years. The last minute candidate switches, combined with obscene amounts of out-of-state money for numerous campaigns, had a deleterious effect on both the candidates and the voters.
The stunt pulled by Zinke, and to a far worse degree Daines, along with their pre-selected compadres, took an already divided electorate and widened the rift to proportions that may not be repairable.
Zinke’s departure was obviously months in the works. It was a methodical and well-executed plan between himself and his acolyte.
Steve Daines has proven to be crafty, manipulative, and a backroom dealmaker, all while smiling and pretending he has Montanans in mind. His chosen one was surprised by the late invite to jump on the candidate train, or so we are to believe.
Greg Gianforte boasts about the 2025 legislative session as if the economic pain felt by numerous Montanans was disappeared with his miracle math pencil and magic eraser when they tackled property taxes and created a slush fund. And this is done in unconvincing videos with legislators who have the worst voting records of the session.
This leaves one to wonder what is in store for Montana voters in 2028. Which candidates have already been ordained for the offices of Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Auditor, and Superintendent of Public Instruction? Who will file for office, announce their candidacy, and within 24 hours have money and endorsements that essentially demoralize anyone who dares to challenge them?
This elitist gang of snobs, with their machinations of the candidate selection process, are destructive to our constitutional republic and disenfranchising voters.
If this go-round seemed rough, 2028 is likely to be brutal.
