The 45th Montana Rural Water Systems Conference just wrapped up in Great Falls, Montana. The conference, sponsored by Zenner USA, featured a variety of equipment, with tables and booths on display. Vendors, operators, and water system funding sources were all highlighted. During the annual event, the winner of “The Best-Tasting Water In Montana” is proclaimed, and for 2025, that winner is the City of Choteau.

The conference ran from March 12th through the 14th at the Heritage Inn in Great Falls, and featured the Ultimate Meter Challenge, designed specifically for water professionals “[…] to test and measure how quickly, totally, and accurately an individual can assemble a working meter in a bracket tournament,” with one winner automatically advancing to the National Rural Conference in New Orleans from September 15-17, to compete in the Ultimate Meter Challenge.

From their website, the “Montana Rural Water Systems Inc. is an association of water and wastewater systems within the State of Montana. We are not connected with the State agencies. We do, however, work with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, local Health Districts, USDA/Rural Development, EPA, and any other agency that can provide help to our small member systems.

We are not controllers of your system! We want to help you control it.”

National Rural Water Association was founded in 1976 with its headquarters in Duncan OK. MT Rural Water became a member with NRWA in October of 1979. From the 5 original systems MRWS has grown to over 400 member utilities.
