Our Battle, Responsibility And Duty Is Never Over!

One of the greatest illusions in politics is believing that if we simply elect the right people, everything will be fixed forever, and we’ll all live happily ever after.

If only freedom and liberty came with a lifetime warranty.

The universe doesn’t work that way. The Second Law of Thermodynamics teaches that left alone, order naturally descends into disorder. Entropy never takes a day off. Neither does evil.

America is no exception. Our constitutional republic requires constant maintenance. There is no finish line where we get to declare, “Mission accomplished,” and retire from defending freedom.

My own property reminds me of this almost every day. I go outside to battle the weeds, and by the next morning they’re back, apparently fueled by an unlimited government subsidy. If I stopped fighting them altogether, they’d eventually swallow the yard—and probably the house. Freedom works the same way.

Years ago, I asked renowned author Joel Skousen why a small minority bent on destruction often seems so influential. He asked me, “Bill, how long does it take to build a house?” “About six months,” I replied. “And how long does it take a bulldozer to destroy it?” “A couple of hours I said”, to which he responded that I now had my answer.

Building is always harder than destroying. That’s entropy at work.

So don’t become discouraged when the fight for America and Righteous Living never seems to end. It isn’t supposed to. A famous quote of truth is, “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.”

Benjamin Franklin famously reminded us that we had “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Notice he didn’t say, “A Republic…once and for all.”

Every generation inherits the responsibility to preserve what the previous generation built.

So keep pulling weeds. Keep defending the Constitution. Keep teaching your children why liberty matters. Stay faithful to the Word of God. And keep resisting the persistent weeds of atheism, anarchy, socialism, collectivism, before they convince everyone they’re just part of the natural landscape.

Entropy is relentless.
