Sprunger owns Big Sky Public Relations

During Montana’s 2023 legislative session, House Bill 267 was passed, providing $100,000,000 from the state’s general fund to the Montana Department of Transportation (MDoT). This was during Sprunger’s term in the Montana legislature. She supported the bill’s passage and, in fact, was its primary sponsor. This was the first bill Sprunger sponsored after winning her election and joining the legislature. Not much later, Sprunger received an extended $9,000,000 contract with MDoT as CEO of Big Sky Public Relations. This means Sprunger led the effort to sponsor and pass a bill, resulting in the state’s largest-ever PR contract going to her firm.
Below is a Ballotpedia.com graphic showing her term of office.

Here is her name listed as the registered agent for Big Sky PR.

Below, she is listed as CEO on the Big Sky Public Relations‘ website.

Here is where she signed the original contract from 2020.

Here is the amendment series adjusting the contract award to $9,000,000 in August 2024.

In fact, Sprunger also voted YES on five House bills whose passage was necessary to increase MDoT’s funding from $ 50M to $100M.

Is it possible that serving in the legislature is lucrative for some politicians?
