HELENA, Mont. – The Executive Committee of the Montana Republican Party (MTGOP) voted on October 21ˢᵗ, 2026, to adopt a resolution rebuking six former Republican officeholders “Forstag’s Phony
Republicans” who have endorsed Democrat Sam Forstag over Republican nominee Aaron Flint in the race for Montana’s 1st Congressional District.
The resolution names former Governor and former Republican National Committee Chairman Marc
Racicot, Geraldine Custer (Forsyth), Michele Binkley (Hamilton), Greg Frazer (Deer Lodge), Bruce
Grubbs (Bozeman), and Brian Putnam (Kalispell) each of whom have publicly endorsed the Forstag
campaign.
Racicot, Binkley, Putnam, and Frazer also appear in Phony Forstag’s latest campaign advertisement
“Getting It Done,” identifying themselves as Republicans and urging voters to vote for the
socialist.
“These individuals spent their careers asking Republicans for their votes, their dollars, and their
trust. Now they’re campaigning for Bernie Sanders’ and AOC’s handpicked candidate. You can’t claim
Republican values while working to elect a far-left lobbyist for the ACLU and Planned Parenthood.
They can endorse whomever they like, but they don’t get to do it in the name of the Montana
Republican Party,” said MTGOP Chairman Art Wittich.
Under the resolution, the MTGOP Executive Committee declares that the six individuals are no longer
considered Republicans by the party, must resign or be removed from any elected positions they hold
within the Montana Republican Party, and will receive no future recognition or political support
from the party.
