Two of Cascade County Montana’s Commissioners will likely vote on Dec 12 to strip citizens right to vote for their own Election Administrator. Commissioners Joe Briggs and Jim Larson are planning on siding with the Great Falls UNI-Party and, it would appear, colluding with their leader, Pete Fontana, and sister, Rina Fontana-Moore (the former Election Administrator) to remove the Election Administrator’s duties from the people’s newly elected Clerk and Recorder, Sandra Merchant. The commissioners would then appoint a new Election Administrator, who will most likely be Rina Moore’s former elections supervisor Lynn DeRoche. Since taking office in 2023, Merchant cleaned up the county’s voter rolls by removing 12,000 non active voters, followed the law in conducting her canvass, and as a result, was challenged by the local establishment.
We can vote them in, but they can take them out. Welcome to another example of the banana republic.
