A candlelight vigil on Friday night brought the Missoula community together to remember conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was publicly murdered on September 10, 2025, during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University as part of the TPUSA American Comeback Tour.
Hundreds gathered in quiet reflection, honoring the principles Kirk championed and the youth movement he built. Candles lit the UM Oval as friends, supporters, and community members came forward to share their memories.
Event organizer and local TPUSA Chapter President, Trey Kinamon opened the vigil with words of conviction.
“We’re gonna be louder, we’re gonna be prouder, and most importantly, we are going to be rooted in our faith,” Kinamon said.
Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras also addressed the crowd, offering a prayer of comfort and remembrance.
Republican leaders from across Montana denounced the act of violence, with Senator Tim Sheehy sharing on X: “Praying for Charlie Kirk. There is no excuse for political violence in this country.”
Serena Spoelma, who attended with her family said that Kirk’s work had a lasting impact on her family, providing hope through his podcast and message.
“ Charlie’s work and efforts have touched my life and made me a better wife and mom every day to the precious people in my life. The vigil itself was beautiful with many young people there and families mourning,” said Spoelma.
The evening closed in silence as attendees placed roses, Bibles, and handmade signs in Kirk’s memory at the base of the Oval — a lasting tribute to his influence and legacy.
