The following update is from Montanans for Limited Government. Green checks are recommended as "YES" votes, Red Xs are recommended "NO" votes. The remainder is for voters to use to educate themselves before casting a ballot. The Montana Sentinel concurs with all recommendations on Constitutional Initiative votes.

There are lots of happenings on Montana's political scene. Hopefully this small bit of information is helpful.

    BALLOT MEASURES

Signatures are being gathered statewide for the following ballot measures that, if enough qualified signatures are obtained, will appear on the November general election ballot. A recommendation on each is included.

    ✅ Sign: CI-124 (Ballot Issue #7)
Short Subject: Amends the Montana Constitution to remove jurisdiction from the Supreme Court to govern admission to the Bar and the conduct of its members.

    ✅ Sign: CI-125 (Ballot Issue #8)
Short Subject: Currently, under the Montana Constitution, only a district court judge may convene a grand jury. CI-125 amends Article II, Section 20 of the Montana Constitution to also allow 100 plus one-half of one percent of a county’s electors to convene a grand jury by complaint and petition.

    🟤 Neutral: I-192 (Ballot Issue #9)
Subject: Designates American rodeo as the official sport of Montana.

    ✅ Sign: I-193 (Ballot Issue #10)
Subject: An act that prohibits Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission from denying the owner of fee patented lands from harvesting deer, elk, and black bear on their own property during the statewide general hunting season. The only exception would be in cases where local animal populations are in severe decline due to environmental factors such as disease or drought.

❌ Decline to Sign: CI-126 (Ballot Issue #12)
Short Subject: Amends the Montana Constitution to provide a top-four primary election.

❌ Decline to Sign: CI-127 (Ballot Issue #13)
Short Subject: Amends the Montana Constitution to provide that elections for certain offices must be decided by majority vote as determined as provided by law rather than by a plurality or the largest amount of the votes.

❌ Decline to Sign: CI-128 (Ballot Issue #14)
Short Subject: A constitutional initiative that would amend the Montana Constitution to expressly provide a right to make and carry out decisions about one’s own pregnancy, including the right to abortion.

Now is the time to make sure folks are registered to vote in the correct precinct.

Remember: If bad candidates make it through the June primary, we are left with terrible choices in November.
