For some time now, common sense has not been so common in America. This holds particularly true for politics regardless of which state you’re in. It frequently seems as if everyone, including our politicians, forgot the basic lessons their mother’s taught them about logic and reason (if they ever learned them at all). It’s times like this that the need for representation from a home-schooling Mom, who has dedicated much of her life to passing on the basics of logic and reason to others, is needed more than ever in the Montana House of Representatives. Enter Rachel Burright.
Over a decade ago, Rachel woke up to the failures of our government and put her logic and reasoning to good use by seeking to better understand what lead to these failures so she could then chart a path forward to rectify them. She saw that the American dream – and the associated rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – were on life support. From studying our founding documents and the writings that influenced them, she came to better understand what we’ve lost as a society, as a country, and as a state. She now aims to bring the voices of ordinary people who can see what we’ve lost to the legislature.
Despite this knowledge, Rachel also recognizes she doesn’t have ALL of the answers. Unlike many in the political class, Rachel comes from humble beginnings in a working-class family and has held many everyday jobs over the course of her life. As a result, throughout her campaign she has shown a willingness to listen to the concerns of people of all backgrounds while also listening to proposed solutions. This stems from a classical education she has received from another dying part of our society which she will do her best to strengthen: the family. Her homeschooled background raised her to read and recognize the importance of the classics which, until recently, helped to shape the fabric of our society.
On a personal level, I’ve gotten to interact with Rachel on a regular basis this election cycle. I’ve been extremely impressed by her knowledge, faith, work ethic, and respect for the family. I’ve also been entertained greatly by her wit, sense of humor, and ability to communicate meaningful messages. I would be very blessed to have her as my Representative in House District 80 this election cycle.
And yes, her cooking is amazing. Let’s give her a chance to cook some common sense into the Montana House of Representatives on November 5th! Vote for Rachel Burright for HD 80.
