On the day after Montana's primary elections flags were flown in the rotunda of the Montana Capitol building celebrating the pride some feel when pushing for child mutilation and abuse.
This occurred during June, a month increasingly known as "Pro-Life Month," because June is the month of the Supreme Court's opinion overturning the national tragedy that followed Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1973.
When talking with the General Services Division, who provides permits for these displays, the Sentinel staff was told the stripe flag is allowed to hang because it is free speech, however a swastika or Christian flag was not permitted. "Because we are following our permits, federal law, and all amendments and stuff," said Victoria.
In reviewing all applicable material pertaining to permits, use of Capitol facilities, and other guidelines, it seems there are no rules dictating what flags have 1st Amendment free speech protections, and which do not. This is another case of a bureaucrat making up rules for thee but not for me.
Let the reader decide for themselves after reading over publicly accessible information regarding permits.
